1. Nike Air Max 1
As the (almost) undisputed king of sneakers, it’s no surprise Nike makes our list. Mixing style and function, the Nike Air has become the brand’s flagship range, and the Air Max 1 is the perfect example of a fashion trainer with a sporting edge. Available in an endless range of colours, this pair takes sophisticated greys and blacks and splashes them with a bright orange swoosh and chequered laces for a fun twist.
2. Adidas ZX850
It’s up there with Oasis vs Blur, The Beatles vs The Stones, ketchup vs mayo – if brash Nike Airs aren’t for you, you’re bound to be sitting in the corner of the sport brand’s cooler older brother, Adidas. The ZX850s take a retro running shoe and give it a 21st Century makeover via some hard-to-miss colour schemes. We like the pair in khaki green and fluorescent yellow.
3. New Balance ML 574 Canteen
Foot Asylum £64.99
Predating both Adidas and Nike, New Balance had until recently been seen as the slightly more sensible grandfather, boasting comfort and practicality, but lacking in the style stakes. Now, thanks to a hipster revival and some brave new designs, NB sit at the top table once again. The ML 574 Canteens feature some cool autumnal colours mixed with a fresh slice of bright red.
